Hi I’m Claire Martin

My name is Claire Martin, I hold a Bachelor of Health Science, Naturopathy degree and a Master of Applied Science, Acupuncture degree. I am professionally registered with the National Herbalists Association of Australia (NHAA), the Federation of Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture Societies of Australia Ltd (FCMA) and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). I aim to treat on an individualised basis, as I appreciate we all have different goals and aspirations in this life. I chose the business name of Tao Naturopathic Health as the Tao recognises the universal principle of harmony in nature, and that which is relative to each individual circumstance.

My interest in herbal medicine began when my step-father was diagnosed with lymphatic leukaemia and sought treatment by a well-known Naturopath. His condition improved remarkably, however with the financial limitations on the family, his naturopathic treatment was, unfortunately put on the backburner. Witnessing this as a child I wanted to help others, with the acknowledgement that good health and effective treatment options should not be inhibited by finances.

My curiosity increased after years residing in the Kimberley, living and working with Aboriginal communities. The abundance of knowledge and utilisation of native Australian medicines today is mind-blowing. I use Australian Bush Flower Essences in my clinic, with great success. Especially good for children and helping patients through any major life changes.

I have travelled extensively, living abroad for several years and have had a varying degree of careers before settling down to study my passion. I have worked in the mining and maritime industries as a FIFO worker, and in non-for-profit health services targeting addiction, rehabilitation, mental health and aboriginal & regional health initiatives.

I then completed post graduate studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine through RMIT to offer my clients acupuncture services. Applying the treatment principles of healthy aging with acupuncture is an ongoing passion, targeting cognitive and neurodegenerative disorders. I offer general acupuncture treatment for musculoskeletal issues, seasonal allergies, rehabilitation, mental health, and wellbeing. I also love to treat children, utilising the non-invasive Sho Ni Shin technique which can assist parents to navigate behavioural, emotional, and physical conditions.

I currently service the Margaret River region, with home visits available. Skype consults are available world-wide (outside the USA), and are encouraged *for Naturopathic services only.
